Read our review of the Bakeit Freefrom Dark Chocolate Ganache Cupcakes –
6 perfectly dark, moist & completely FreeFrom Cupcakes delivered straight to your door!
As much as I LOVE baking cakes for everyone, especially on their birthdays, I don’t often bake just for myself. Ironically this often leaves me birthday cake-less. Well not this year dear readers. This year, I got not one but 6 deliciously dark cupcakes delivered straight to my door ON MY BIRTHDAY! Not only are they absolutely yummy BUT they are also completely freefrom & therefore safe for little old me* to eat! Yep you heard me – dairyfree, eggfree, soyfree & Glutenfree PLUS freefrom all of the other Top 14 EU listed allergens! I even have a giveaway at the bottom of this post for you to win your own box!
‘Happy Birthday to me, Happy Birthday to me….’
*technically yes Peachick safe too & I promise I did share one or two with them!
Sorry back to the cupcakes! These lovelies are the brainchild of Maggie the creator of the Bakeit Freefrom baking kits. Inspired by a toddler with a milk allergy & a colleague struggling to cater a birthday party, Maggie set about creating these easy to use kits with the aim that no-one would notice the resulting cake wasn’t full of the usual ingredients! Each one is Top14 free and come in a range of delicious flavours. But if baking is not your thing then don’t despair because these Lovely Dark Chocolate Ganache Cupcakes will soon be available to order too! At £20 for 6, they may not be an everyday treat but with free delivery, beautifully boxed with hand written gift message they make the perfect gift to send on a special occasion! Don’t tell Gf Bestie but I may just have to treat her to some for her birthday!
Having looked around at other cake delivery services, £20 is about the going rate for 6 cupcakes. I am seriously in the wrong job! And from what I have seen vegan OR glutenfree is pretty easy to find but Top 14 free is almost unique to Bakeit FreeFrom. Plus lets be honest, you would pay more than this for a beautiful bouquet of flowers and you definitely don’t get to eat them!
At this point I should say that refining the delivery & packing process was part of the reason I was sent these. Apparently (ironically) the postman couldn’t read the instructions to keep the box upright. But aside from the frosting on top being a little squished, the cupcakes themselves were in great condition. Maggie is still working hard to iron out these last few kinks to make sure your cupcakes will arrive in perfect condition!
As lovely and delicate as the sponge of the cupcakes is, the Ganache frosting is most definitely the star of the show. Dark, fudgy and slightly bitter from the raw chocolate – it is everything I love in a chocolate treat and if Maggie ever decides to sell it separately I may have to buy a bucket or two! Vegan frosting is a tricky beast and will often split, the consistency of this ganache is spot on. And I love that the cupcakes are otherwise undecorated, so can be personalised for any occasion with your own choice of sprinkles, toppers or fondant figures upon arrival!
These are most definitely PEACHICK APPROVED!!
I did manage to hide one in a tin for a whole week just waiting for my Thursday afternoon – the only 2 hours in a week where I am completely ALONE! And I am pleased to report that even after a week in hiding these cupcakes are just as delicious as the day they arrived!
We are also very aware in this house that not all allergies are limited to the Top14 so all the ingredients & nutritional information can be found here….
